Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star Dietmar Hamann believes that his boyhood club will knock Liverpool out in the Champions League last 16.

Things haven’t been going well for Liverpool lately as three of their last four matches ended in goalless draws. This included a goalless draw against Bayern Munich at Anfield. Liverpool’s recent winless results have seen Manchester City overtake them in the league table.

Wednesday’s match will be Liverpool’s first match against Bayern at the Allianz Arena. Liverpool have never won in any of the previous occasions when they faced Bayern Munich in the latter’s home turf.

Bavarian-born Hamann believes that Liverpool will lose to Bayern Munich simply because of the fact that they are facing the club at the wrong time and

The former Champions League winner with Liverpool said, “They will feel they are in a decent position after the 0-0 draw at home and with Virgil van Dijk returning – but I still prefer Bayern. The potential loss to injury of Kingsley Coman is a blow for the German side but they are in superb form, unrecognisable from the first couple of months of the season. Their confidence will contrast with the mood at Liverpool and I’ll take Bayern in another tight, low-scoring encounter.

Liverpool are definitely running into Bayern at the wrong time with a new belief pulsing through the Bavarian ranks.”

Before facing Bayern, Liverpool take on Burnley at Anfield tomorrow.
