Georginio Wijnaldum is very keen to end Liverpool’s trophy drought in the Champions League final but has admitted beating Tottenham Hotspur would be a tough job.

After nearly missing out on the coveted trophy last season to Real Madrid the Reds are very determined not to repeat their last campaign’s mistake. Despite accumulating a record 97 points in the Premier League the Merseysiders narrowly were edged out by Manchester City in the title race on the last day of the season.

Wijnaldum has emerged as a key player for Jurgen Klopp and if they are to lay their hands on the trophy the midfielder is poised to play a key role on 1st of June.

Wijnaldum said, “Everyone is really focused and determined to win a trophy, especially because we’ve had a really good year.

“It was a great year with 97 points in the league, but unfortunately, we didn’t end as champions, so that’s why we want to finish this season with a trophy.

“In the last game of the season, we couldn’t control things [in the league] because it wasn’t in our hands. Now, it’s different, it’s a final, so we’re going to try to make the best of it and try to win the game, but we know Tottenham are a really tough opponent.”
