Liverpool have been linked with a transfer for Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir.

Liverpool had been fishing around for an attacking midfielder since last year. They were linked with a move for Fekir but a move never transpired.

Liverpool instead decided to settle for Xherdan Shaqiri. The main problem with the Fekir deal was that Liverpool have a very strong attacking trio.

The trio of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino have been so strong that no other attacker in Liverpool have been able to break into first team.

The likes of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge have all tried to do so but never could. Fekir it seems could be their latest addition and it will be up to him to break into that first team.

It has also been confirmed that Lyon are open to his exit with the player telling his president Aulas that he would want to leave the club.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Aulas said of Fekir: “His preference is towards a departure. We are open to discussions. We have no news.  We are waiting for proposals in the coming days but for the moment, we do not have any.”
