Jordan Henderson wants Liverpool to follow the footsteps of Manchester City by emulating their trophy winning haul.

Henderson captained the Reds to their first trophy in recent times as they got the better of Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in Madrid. Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi were the two scorers as Jurgen Klopp lifted the first European title of his managerial career.

The Reds also had a triumphant domestic campaign but City steamrolled all their opponents as they conquered a historic treble by winning the Premier League, FA Cup and the League Cup.

Henderson has been one of the most consistent performers for Liverpool in this campaign but the English international doesn’t want to stop here as they want to keep on winning trophies.

“Football moves quickly and we will go again and keep wanting more.

“[To] show that desire to keep wanting to improve and want more trophies. That is what we have got to do.

“Before this game I said [Manchester] City don’t just win one [but] two or three trophies.

“That is what we are trying to aim for and I know in this group we want to do that. We are young enough to stay together and hopefully we can do that for a long period of time.”
