Jurgen Klopp believes that even with the club’s best goal threat, Mohamed Salah on the pitch it is James Milner who is to be trusted with penalties.

The Englishman stepped up to the spot on Sunday evening to get his team the win against Fulham. The Reds were level with the Cottagers up until the final 10 minutes of the match which could have seriously damaged their chances of winning the title with just 7 games left in the season for them.

Salah has scored 5 times this season from the spot but Milner has been Liverpool’s destined penalty taker ever since he came into the club.

Speaking to the press after the game, Jurgen Klopp said, “Mo scored penalties as well, but when Milly is on the pitch I think it makes sense that he takes it.”

“[Did I have] Doubts? Not really – but even Milly is a human being, and he can fail. But he’s very good. I don’t know if it was a penalty. But so far nobody told me it was no penalty, so it makes me quite comfortable that it was!”

The German manager did give Fulham their due credit for putting a good fight. He further added, “We started well and then we lost the rhythm a little bit. Fulham is a really good football-playing side, I saw the last two games and they are a good team without getting really dangerous in front of goal.”
