According to reports in England, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants the club to sign Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt has impressed for Ajax this season and is one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.
Klopp wants a top-quality defender to partner Virgil van Dijk in central defence. Liverpool already have Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren who have done well this season. However, the club needs someone better and Klopp thinks de Ligt will be a suitable addition to Liverpool’s squad.
There are several clubs who are interested in getting de Ligt’s signature. These include Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, Manchester City and most recently, Arsenal. Barcelona and Juventus are currently the front-runners to sign de Ligt.
A couple of days back, Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana said that de Ligt wants a move to Barcelona who signed his Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong last month. Before that, de Ligt’s father said that there are chances of his son moving to Juventus. Italian media also reported that last week, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici went to Amsterdam to talk to de Ligt regarding a transfer.
