Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said that Liverpool’s performance against Arsenal wasn’t very good during the first half. However, he made a change in the formation during the break and he thinks that that change helped Liverpool improve their performance in the second half.

Liverpool took the lead in the 61st minute thanks to James Milner who netted his 50th Premier League goal. However, Alexandre Lacazette scored an equaliser in the 82nd minute.

Following the match, Klopp said, “It was a very intense game. It was clear Arsenal are in a very good moment. We made life a bit too easy for them in the first half. Formation-wise, I was not happy with how compact we were. When we had the ball it was good, we were a threat and we got in behind.

It was a pretty open game. Our set-pieces were outstanding, we should have scored from them.

Virgil (van Dijk) said immediately after the game to me that he should have had a hat-trick. But he didn’t even score one. Second half, we changed formation a bit and that helped us. We scored a really nice goal and had some super counter-attacks and played very good football in some moments.”

Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table with 27 points. However, they might go down to second or maybe even third in the table today as both Chelsea and Manchester City face opponents well within their reach.

Liverpool’s next match is a Champions League fixture against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.
