Liverpool attacking midfielder Adam Lallana received only his fourth start of the season under Jurgen Klopp. Klopp’s decision to field Lallana surprised many but the German said that Lallana’s levels in training is the reason he got the start ahead of the likes of Jordan Henderson or Naby Keita.

Lallana had a pretty good 77 minutes in today’s match against Burnley at Anfield and received a huge ovation from the crowd when he was replaced by Naby Keita.

Injuries have limited Lallana’s playing time at Liverpool for a long time now. However, the attacking midfielder is now eager to contribute for Liverpool.

Following the match, Lallana said, “It has been a difficult 18 months to two years for me with injuries, but hopefully that’s behind me now. I just want to keep working hard and contribute to what will be an exciting end to the season.

It helps when you can be fit consistently, I’ve not had that over the last couple of years. It was a good game and I enjoyed being out there.

Burnley made it very difficult for us and obviously got an early goal. All we’ve got to do is concentrate on ourselves and win games. City won yesterday, so it was our job today to put in a professional performance. Burnley didn’t make it easy, and we might not have made it easy for ourselves at the end, but Sadio finished it off.”

After securing three important points at Anfield, Liverpool next travel to Munich. The Reds take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday with the aim of defying odds and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
