The player’s agent confirmed that he will stay with the Spanish side

Jurgen Klopp is keen to make new signings this summer in order to strengthen the squad for next season.

The Reds have already completed the signing of Fabinho from Monaco and former RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita have already joined them earlier this summer, after agreeing terms with him last summer. But the club are not planning to stop there and are looking to make more signings to reinforce key areas.

Former BVB coach has prioritized signing a creative midfielder as he is looking for a replacement of Philippe Coutinho. He wanted to sign Lyon star Nabil Fekir but the deal fell through.

The Premier League giants have shown interest in Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio and have been following his rapid progress for number of years.

He joined the Spanish side from Mallorca for a €3.9 million fee, signing a six year deal on December 2014. He remained with his club on loan until the end of the campaign and was again loaned to  RCD Espanyol for the whole campaign in the following season.

The 21 year old returned back to the La Liga giants for the 2016/2017 season and developed under former manager Zinedine Zidane almost beyond recognition. He has been a key player for the club since then and has established himself as one of the best young talents in the world.

The Spaniard was a regular last season, scoring 9 goals and assisting 7 in 48 appearances. He even managed managed to keep the likes of Isco and Gareth Bale out from the Starting XI.

But his progress stalled towards the end of the season as he struggled to make an impact and was reduced to the bench. Though he ended the season on a positive note as the club won 3rd consecutive Champions League.

There were some speculations that the Spain International was concerned about his game time in the upcoming season and wants assurance over his future from the new manager Julen Lopetegui.

Links to Klopp’s side grew loud enough during the World Cup that Asensio was asked directly about them, with the midfielder saying he would decide his future after Spain’s World Cup was over.

But the player’s agent Horacio Gaggioli ended all the speculations by claiming that his client will stay in Spain this summer.

“Marco won’t move, he’ll stay with Real Madrid,” Gaggioli told Calciomercato as quoted by Goal.

“He’s improving all the time. Next season I think he’ll be very important in Madrid.”
