Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has said that the Reds deserve to win a silverware this season. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been in very good form this season and the Dutchman has been a vital cog in the defence for his side. Speaking to Liverpool Echo, the Liverpool defensive ace said, “I want to achieve everything that is possible in football and not have any regrets when I retire. My dream is obviously to win trophies with Liverpool because Liverpool deserve trophies.”

He added, “The club, the fans, the players we have, we deserve it. But obviously you still need to do it on the pitch. We are close, for now we are still in the race and we are going to fight until the end.”

However, the Liverpool defender also admitted that reigning champions and current league leaders Manchester City are the favourites to win the Premier League trophy once again. He said, “That’s the unlucky bit for us, that they have been fantastic throughout the whole season. We have been doing in the league fantastically as well. It’s something good for people that love football to see. I have a feeling it will go right to the end. We will give everything we have and they will too.”

Van Dijk concluded, “Would I sooner win the Premier League or Champions League? I can’t choose. But the Premier League would be something special. This year, because the race is so tight it says a lot about the quality of our team if we do it. If not, then we should keep our heads high and try again, but that’s something we’re not focusing on right now.”
