According to reports from The Sun, Sporting CP have rejected Liverpool’s £40 million bid for Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes was one of the best Portuguese players during the 2018/19 season, netting 32 goals and providing 18 assists for Sporting in 53 appearances across all competitions.

His performances has attracted attention from some of Europe’s top clubs. Manchester United were the frontrunner to sign him before Liverpool entered their name in the race by submitting a £40 million bid.

However, Sporting have rejected Liverpool’s bid as they are reportedly demanding £62 million for Fernandes. With Liverpool’s bid rejected, the coast seems clear for Manchester United to sign the 24-year old attacking midfielder.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to bolster Manchester United’s squad for the upcoming season and with Paul Pogba most likely leaving for Juventus or Real Madrid, Manchester United will be more desperate than ever to land Fernandes.
