Jurgen Klopp is keen to add a new goalkeeper this summer
Despite a positive campaign last season, Jurgen Klopp is keen to make new signings this summer in order to strengthen the squad for next season. Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner admitted that the manager will be given transfer funds to add reinforcements in the transfer window.
The Reds have already completed the signing of Fabinho from Monaco and RB Leipzig’s midfielder Naby Keita, who will join them this month. But the club are looking to complete the signings of their other targets and wants it to be done as soon as possible.
One of the key areas the German coach is keen to reinforce is between the sticks. Since Simon Mignolet joined the club, he has often been criticized for his inconsistent performances and has fallen down the pecking order in recent months.
Loris Karius has been preferred ahead of the Belgian International. He has been in great form in recent months, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding 17 goals in 20 appearances and helping the team to reach the Champions League final. But his poor performances in the Champions League final proved the Premier League giants need a world class goalkeeper next season.
Several top Serie A goalkeepers are being linked with joining the Anfield Road in the summer including Alisson and Gigio Donnarumma.
Both players, however, are believed to be quite too expensive for the Champions League finalists as they likely to cost over €70 million to secure the services of both players.
Liverpool have made Lazio goalkeeper Straosha one of their main summer target as the Reds are desperate to sign a new goalkeeper, reports Calciomercato. The Italian side are open to sell the Albania International for a fee of about € 40 million.
The 23 year old kept 17 clean sheets in 53 appearances with the Serie A giants last season. He is contracted with the club until the summer of 2022.
