Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson could miss Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur after suffering an injury on international duty.

Henderson limped off during the early stages of Liverpool’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich. He subsequently missed Liverpool’s match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

However, Henderson started in England’s opening Euro qualifier against Czech Republic at Wembley.

However, Henderson has a fitness situation now and will be assessed today before their match against Montenegro at Podgorica. Provided Henderson plays today, he will make his 50th appearance for England.

Henderson is a key player for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will certainly prefer if Gareth Southgate doesn’t start him against Montenegro tonight.

Henderson isn’t Liverpool’s only injury concern at the moment as Trent Alexander-Arnold withdrew from the England squad and flew back to Liverpool to undergo rehabilitation. Liverpool will require Henderson’s experience at this stage of the season.

Provided Henderson is not able to feature against Spurs, then Liverpool will most likely go with a midfield trio of Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Milner.

Henderso is not the only player who is doubtful for England’s clash against Montenegro tonight. Jadon Sancho and Dele Alli will also undergo fitness tests today.
