Liverpool duo, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane has been trying to convince Timo Werner to make the switch to Anfield next summer.

The 22-year-old forward has emerged as one of the top strikers in the Bundesliga, scoring 45 goals in 83 league appearances since his move to RB Leipzig from VfB Stuttgart.

Werner is also a Germany international with 23 senior caps and 9 goals for his country. His contract with Leipzig is set to run for another season which in turn is drawing constant links with the Merseyside club.

One of Werner’s former teammates, Keita got transferred to Liverpool for £52.75m a year back. With the Reds marching on at the very top of the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp is eager to add more quality pieces to match the stacked lineup of Manchester City.

Werner is arguably one of the best young strikers in Europe with an expiring contract. Speaking to German news publication, BILD, Keita said, “We played very well together in Leipzig and he was one of my best friends, it’s clear that should he change, I’d ask Timo to come to Liverpool with us.”

Liverpool winger and former RB Salzburg player, Sadio Mane also added in the same report, “I like his way of playing: very powerful, good finish, always with 100 percent in. If he wants to join us, we like to welcome him into our team.”
