Liverpool forward Divock Origi has said that he is willing to do whatever it takes to help Liverpool. That includes changing his position too. Origi who joined Liverpool from Lille in 2014, generally plays as a striker.

However, Jurgen Klopp has deployed him as a winger in recent appearances for Liverpool. This season, the 23-year old Belgian has made 14 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and an assist. In his last three appearances for Liverpool which include two starts, Origi has played as a winger and even scored a goal against Watford.

Origi has said that he finds the winger position quite suitable. Speaking to Liverpool’s official magazine, the Belgium international said, “I loved that role. Even in the youth teams, I used to play up front and on the wing so I’m comfortable in both positions. People have maybe seen me more up front in the last couple of years but I totally love it on the wing as well. It is a squad game and, like I have always said, I try to shine my light whenever I get my opportunity.”

Origi’s finest performance for Liverpool this season was perhaps the match against Watford last month. Origi started the game in place of the injured Roberto Firmino. He scored a goal as Liverpool thrashed Javi Garcia’s side 5-0.

Speaking of the Watford game, Origi said, “I enjoyed linking up with Sadio and Mo [against Watford] but of course they are top players which makes it easier for me and I think it was just about having fun. Being an offensive player, I like it when I have space in front of me. That’s always good and I think we turned in a really good performance that night.

I focus on what I can do to help the team in whatever capacity that is. I just have to stay positive. I know that we have big goals so whatever role I am asked to play, I am happy to do that. Of course I am ambitious and I want to play as much as possible but the most important thing is our team and the team goals.”

Origi was an unused substitute in Belgium’s first Euro 2020 qualifier against Russia. The 2018 World Cup bronze medallists beat the 2018 World Cup hosts 3-1 thanks to a brace from skipper Eden Hazard and a goal from Youri Tielemans.

Origi may once again warm the bench as Belgium travel to Nicosia to play their next qualifier against Cyprus tomorrow.
