Andy Robertson has given a wrap up on Liverpool’s brilliant season that was.

“I thought the fans were brilliant, got behind us and created a positive atmosphere for us,” Robertson said.

“It makes a huge difference. Some people go to the game and maybe don’t understand how important they are at affecting it but they are.

“Even when we came out for the warm-up, it was a good reception and you could tell the fans were up for it. We were up for it already.

“We couldn’t wait to get out to get the warm up done and get started. That’s the way it was.

“I think everyone was really positive and hopefully that continues from now until the end of the season.

“It’s up to us to create that atmosphere. We need to win the tackles, create chances, win our headers and score goals. That’s the only way you get fans off their seats. We managed to do it and the fans reacted well. We fought for everything and got the result that we needed.”

“From the get-go we were brilliant all over,” Robertson added.

“It could have been a lot more comfortable but a clean sheet is the most important thing because we haven’t kept enough of them in the last couple of weeks.

“Different teams set up differently, you start games differently. That’s the way football works. If you could play like that every game it would be a lot easier but it’s not exactly how it works.

“We were free-flowing, created chances, caused them problems and it was very pleasing.

“The last two games were disappointing of course but when you’re not at your best you need to pick up points and we’ve done that. Hopefully if there is a so-called blip then that’s it and hopefully we can kick on now.”

“Jurgen has been calm and the backroom staff have been different class. They are the team behind the team and they are the ones who keep us going and positive,” he added.

“When people say he is nervous or we are nervous it couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a relaxed training ground and it is all about winning games.

“The manager has probably been even more ‘smiley’. He is just trying to get us going and it’s obviously worked.

“In terms of the players, we’ve not seen any difference in any of the staff and we’ve not changed, whether we draw, win or lose.

“The only thing we get annoyed about – not nervous about – is that we want to win every game and if we have a bad result we use that to put in a positive performance the next game and that’s what we’ve done.”

In the season it’s very rare we’ve got a full week to work but we’ve got 10 days until our next game, which is unheard of,” Robertson said.

“It will be a positive camp, full of training, and I am sure lads coming back from injury will be fairly fit after the camp.

“It’s all about working on things we think we can do better. There are always things, we’re not a complete team, we can always do things better.”
