Steven Gerrard couldn’t stop his excitement after he captained the Liverpool legends to a 3-2 win against the AC Milan Glorie in a charity match at the Anfield on Saturday.

The match was organized to contribute funds for the LFC Foundation and around £1m was raised as more than 50,000 fans thronged to the stadium to have a glimpse of their favourite stars.

The likes of Dirk Kuyt, Robbie Fowler and Jamie Carragher pulled up their socks once again for the Reds while Andrea Pirlo, Kaka and Cafu appeared in the Milan shirt.

The match looked to be on the course of a draw but the Rangers manager unleashed a last minute winner to claim all the glory in front of a packed Anfield.

Gerrard said, “It’s always a special time to come to Anfield, especially when it’s full, and just put the kit on.

“To play against Milan with all my ex-team-mates, and to get the winner, is obviously a special feeling. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting all the boys.

“The lads give up their free time – they could be with their families elsewhere but they want to come here for a good cause and to entertain the supporters. Well done to all the lads.”
