Liverpool ace Virgil Van Dijk has given a message for his compatriot and Liverpool target Mathijs De Ligt. The player has been one of the best defenders in Europe and has been linked with a move to Anfield in the near future. Van Dijk, who is well acquainted with the Ajax skipper, is known to use his influence to get the defender to Liverpool next summer.
Praising his defensive partner’s contribution after Netherlands’ 4-0 win over Belarus in their first match of the Euro 2020 qualifiers, Van Dijk said, “He’s obviously an excellent defender, that’s clear. He can still improve a lot and he realises that. But playing like he does at that age is fantastic and I’m really happy to play beside him.”
Speaking about their next match against Germany, the Liverpool ace said, “It does look like the Germans are still in a building phase but don’t forget that the Dutch side is also going through the same process. The Germans still have fantastic players even if they might be talking over there (in Germany) about a crisis. We also had a spell like that, where things did not go for us.”
