The manager confronted him after the defeat against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup

Liverpool completed the £13 million signing of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City in the summer transfer window. He was their third major purchase of the summer, and penned a five-year deal at Anfield.

The Switzerland International has made 3 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League so far this season and made his first start against Southampton last week, assisted two goals. The club have won all the fixtures so far and are the current leaders in the league.

The winger also started in the third round of Carabao Cup against Chelsea at Anfield and were handed their first defeat of the season. Jurgen Klopp confronted him at full time and spoke at length with him.

Rumours emerged that there was clash between the pair but Shaqiri has dismissed the speculations and claimed he was only receiving instructions about a free kick.

“He was not intense or shouting something,” he told the Evening Standard.

“It was just a tactical thing, like something off the free-kick we should do better.

“In the end, Jordan took the free-kick and it was maybe not the best solution we did there.”

“He just gave the same reason he said to you: It was difficult for him to take me off but it was a tactical thing he wanted to change,” Shaqiri added.

“He came to me straight away and said why.

“I have a very good relationship with him so everything is okay.”

Liverpool will again face the Blues in Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and will be hoping to maintain their 100 percent start in the league.
