The English playmaker has fallen out of favour with Klopp this season.
But it’s now certain he won’t be returning to hsi former side.
Adam Lallana’s return to Southampton is unlikely because of his wages and injury history, claims The Athletic’s Southampton correspondent Carl Anka. “I heard Darren Bent say this and honestly I don’t see it happening at the moment,” Anka wrote in his Q&A on The Athletic.
“I imagine wages and injury history would be a concern, but he is capable of playing as a CM in a high pressing system. Gut feeling tells me he’s likely to end up at a club like Leicester City – Champions League football, able to give him some football, but not too much.”
Currently, Lallana is on a £110k-a-week wage which is a lot for any club outside the top 6. The 31-year-old is out of contract with Liverpool at the end of this season and so far nothing suggests he will be offered a renewal. This season, Lallana has registered 19 appearances in all competitions and contributed one goal and two assists.
