Liverpool will not be losing Adrian this summer as the goalkeeper expresses his desire to stay.
Jurgen Klopp acquired him from West Ham United last summer on a free transfer. Adrian came in to immediately help Liverpool win the UEFA Super Cup over Chelsea.
His heroics in goal along with a crucial penalty save off of Tammy Abraham’s shot led the Reds to their second European trophy last year. Alisson Becker’s injury saw Adrian play a number of Premier League games as well and impress. He has racked up 18 appearances this term, marking his importance to the squad as a number two option.
Rumours across the media channels have emerged relating to Adrian. The Spaniard has been tipped to leave in search of more playing time elsewhere. While he comes nowhere close to Alisson’s quality as a keeper, he is good enough to start for other teams in the Premier League.
“I see myself in Liverpool at the moment,” said Adrian to Radio Sevilla. “I still have many years of football left, and we will see. I have one more year and another optional one. Right now I wouldn’t change anything to be here in Liverpool and enjoy this beautiful moment.”
Of course, Adrian is on his way to winning a Premier League medal this year. The Reds are 25-points clear at the top and are expected to wrap up matters when football resumes this month.
