The 23-year-old goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros of Liverpool has emerged as a top contender in Ajax’s search for a new number one. VI.nl claims that the Czech stopper has a direct relationship to Ajax’s current coach, John Heitinga, who worked with him while he was at Liverpool.
The newspaper attributes the move to Heitinga’s knowledge of Jaros, saying, It is not surprising that Jaros is in the picture at Ajax. Although the Dutch powerhouses are eager to sign Jaros on loan, talks with Liverpool are still ongoing. Ajax is interested in renting Jaros, but that is not yet final, as Liverpool still has too high demands at the moment, the report states.
Amsterdam is not the only city with interest in Jaros. The French team Lille has also expressed interest in signing him, albeit as a backup goalie, which makes Ajax’s offer of a possible starting position much more alluring to the player.
Ajax reportedly target Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros
According to Voetbal International’s Tim van Duijn, Ajax has Jaros, 23, at the top of their list of possible starting goalkeepers. Remko Pasveer, 41, will be the Amsterdam club’s backup goalie, and the board wants to replace him.
The Czech goalkeeper, who has only appeared in two games during his Liverpool career, is apparently targeted by Ajax for a loan agreement. John Heitinga, a former Liverpool assistant who Ajax hired as manager in May, is someone the former Czech international knows.
Van Duijn claims that because Liverpool’s expectations are currently too high for Ajax, a deal is not yet in place. The Czech goalie is allegedly also a target for Lille, but they would have to make do with a backup position behind Lucas Chevalier.
Liverpool is still focused on Jaros’ development even though it is doubtful that he will replace Alisson Becker at Anfield. They have carefully fostered his development by lending him to teams like Stockport, St. Patrick’s Athletic, and Notts County. Transferring to Ajax would be a big step up and fit in with the team’s larger plan to boost player worth and expose young players to top-tier football.
