Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson believes that despite suffering two successive winless results, the club is confident of winning the Premier League this season.

Liverpool began the Premier League as heavy favorites to win it. They ended 2018 with a 7-point lead over Manchester City. At this stage, many thought that Liverpool were on the course to win their first league title in nearly three decades.

However, 2019 hasn’t been very good for the Reds as they began with back to back defeats against Manchester City and Wolves. However, they registered another two successive wins against Brighton and Crystal Palace. Liverpool drew their last two matches against Leicester City and West Ham United.

They are now 2nd in the Premier League table following Manchester City’s win over Everton last night.

However, Alisson still believes that Liverpool are confident of winning the League title.

When asked if nerves are a reason behind Liverpool’s recent results, Alisson replied, “I wouldn’t say anything on the matter. We believe we can win the league. We’ve shown in the past that we’re good enough and we’ll continue to show this in the games we’ve got to come.

Our pressure is the same. We take things game by game without worrying about what our opponents are doing. Everyone wants to win this league but at Liverpool our concern is winning games and not dropping points.

We don’t think about Man City, we think about ourselves. We only think about what we can do and how things are moving forward. I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool. We need to win games and we need to focus on our next opponent.

To get back to the top of the league we need to win games that comes from hard work, starting on Saturday.”

Liverpool play Bournemouth on Saturday at Anfield. The Reds will hope to come back to winning ways and retain the top spot in the Premier League table. Following their match against Bournemouth, Liverpool play their Champions League last 16 first leg against Bayern Munich at Anfield.
