Alisson has admitted the defensive solidity Liverpool have shown throughout the season is a result of the teamwork.

Liverpool paid a whopping £66.8m to AS Roma to acquire the Brazilian and he took very little time to adjust himself to the pros and cons of the English condition.

The mistake of Loris Karius in the Champions League final made Jurgen Klopp go big in the transfer market searching for a trusted pair of hands and in Alisson, he has found the perfect shot stopper.

The Brazil number one doesn’t just safeguard the goals he also tries to set up goals with his incisive defence splitting passes. He has kept 17 clean sheets so far the highest in the Premier League and his brilliant understanding with the Reds backline has helped Klopp’s side immensely.

Alisson said, “The big secret of our defence is that the whole team works together,”

“It’s not just about the backline, it’s not just about the midfield – even the attackers will come back, like Firmino, to defend inside our own area. Mane sacrifices a lot to help with the marking. Salah helps with pressing, which starts way up top. If we fail up top, then we’ll have problems at the back. When something goes /wrong, we all stay focused.

“We have our objective clearly in front of us, which is to win the game. With a clean sheet, we are one step closer to winning.”
