Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker moved to Anfield over six months back over a £66.8m transfer fee from AS Roma but the number one Brazilian shot-stopper still has difficulty in understanding his teammates.
In a rather comedic sense, the 26-year-old stated that he has found it easier to decipher the broken English of his foreign teammates rather than the local accents of his English teammates.
He said, “The British accent is hard for me to understand. In Brazil, we’re used to hearing American-English. It’s been easier to understand my non-English teammates speaking English than the local ones. Hopefully, I can improve my vocabulary.”
The Liverpool dressing is filled with characters from all over the United Kingdon. James Milner hails from Yorkshire, Daniel Sturridge from Birmingham, Jordan Henderson from Sunderland and Trent Alexandre Arnold is a thorough Scouser.
One can only imagine the poor lad constantly scratching his head in training, trying to make out what his teammate’s meant but so far, he has looked the least bit confused when on the pitch for Liverpool.
Alisson came into Merseyside to answer one of the Reds’ most obvious problems and has quickly made himself indispensable to Jurgen Klopp.
The huge 6 feet 3 inches South American further added, “It’s been easier to adapt to England than it was moving from Brazil to Italy, probably because I’m more mature and experienced now. Signing for Liverpool was a huge step forward in my career and I’m really proud to be here.”
