Becker was forced off in the first game of the new Premier League season after suffering an injury.

He went on the ground right after taking a goal-kick and was could not continue despite on-field treatment from the club’s medical staff.

Liverpool were forced to replace him, as new signing Adrian came on as the Brazilian’s replacement, making his Reds debut only four days after joining the club on a free transfer. The calf injury immediately ended his chances of facing Chelsea in Wednesday’s Super Cup Final.

The former Roma man, will undergo a scan this weekend to establish how much action he is going to miss.

Considering the fact that the club’s two junior keepers are also injured, manager Klopp has only one keeper available for the next few games.

Alisson will not be ready for Wednesday, I can say that already. He felt his calf. He looked behind him because he thought something hit him”, the Liverpool boss said.

“Adrian came in and I don’t think he wanted to only sit on the bench for the next couple of years. He was ready. He’s 32, he is a calm guy, good with his feet, but still nobody wants to have a situation where only one goalkeeper is fit”, he added.

The Champions League holders started the new Premier League season in fine form, winning 4-1 on Friday against Norwich City, but it certainly going to be an interesting challenge to see them having to rely on the former West Ham goalkeeper for at least a couple of weeks.
