Manuel Neuer warns Bayern Munich to cut out defensive madness ahead of the Liverpool clash
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer warns that his team must cut out defensive madness if they are to beat Liverpool in the Champions League.
The German star returned to action on Friday in the Bundesliga game against Augsburg but saw two goals past him amidst defensive calamity from his team.
The Bavarians conceded just after 13 seconds and were thankful to their attackers to win that game.
And Neuer admits that every player will have to raise their bar in order to beat Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday.
Talking post-match, he said: “The game was all great but conceding the goals was of course madness.
“You cannot do that. We wanted to defend well and keep a clean sheet but unfortunately we didn’t achieve that. We were caught cold twice on the wings.
“We know that Liverpool are an offensive team and they will have more chances to score.
“We need to stand better, occupy the box better and organise ourselves very well, especially with passes over the side so we can prevent that.”
After facing Bayern on Tuesday, Liverpool have a massive league game against Manchester United at Old Trafford coming up next Sunday.
