Carragher - Kirkby wont be the same as Melwood

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has warned the club that it will take time to make their new training ground as impressive as Melwood.

The former training ground has seen the club make some massive memories over the years. While the new set up is far more impressive in terms of infrastructure and system and technology, the lack of history worries Carragher.

“It won’t be easy to [bring the atmosphere] because there’s so much invested in Melwood in terms of memories and rooms and setups, just the way you went about things,” Carragher told the Liverpool Echo.

“It was different. It will take a bit of getting used to and it is like building that history again.

“It’s like when a team moves to a new stadium, it’s still your stadium, but it’s hard to put it into words, it’s just all about feelings and how you feel.

“So they will have to rebuild that and how they feel about the new place and getting used to it.”

He will surely not be alone as Liverpool fans and the general feeling around the club is of one where they love their history.

  1. Please Liverpool can you take the hole wall from Melwood road side, place it at the new Kirkby training ground, and then start placing plaques from the greats that ever played or worked at LFC this is history.
