Cascarino warns Alisson about Karius' past

Football pundit Tony Cascarino has warned Alisson Becker about dropping standards at Anfield.

The pundit wrote for The Times: “A couple of weeks ago I wrote that Alisson has to stop thinking he is Virgil van Dijk, taking on his mantle, and looking after the passing at the back for Liverpool.

“What he was doing was high risk and he was taking on a responsibility that was way beyond what he should be doing.

“He was made to pay for that – and it was just so unnecessary. On one of the goals he did it twice in the same move and then three minutes later he does it again.

“It was a Loris Karius Champions League final performance. It was that bad.

“Karius got discarded for that performance which won’t happen to Alisson because he is a great keeper but that is what he has to concentrate on now, being a great keeper.

“As well as that I think Liverpool have to stop playing midfielders at centre-half, and they looked like that when they played there on Sunday.

“Fabinho has been yellow carded in his last four games at centre-half and gave away a penalty [against Man City].

“At the most play one of those two at the back.”
