In the last few years, Ben Chilwell has established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. He was part of the historic Leicester City first team that won the League campaign in 2015-16.
First, the then Liverpool manager Rodgers tried to sign him for the Reds but it didn’t materialize.
The 22-year-old insists that he has no regret over the failed move.
Ben told Sky Sports, “I was 17 at the time. My agent was the one dealing with it all, talking to Liverpool and Leicester about the situation.”
“At the time, I was trying to break into the U21 team at Leicester so I was just focused on getting into that and progressing into the first team here. ‘Definitely no regrets.”
“When I look at how the last four or five years have gone, starting eight games now for the England team is something I’m very happy with.”
“Leicester was the right place for me to be at the time and the older players have helped me a lot. The staff has kept me grounded. Definitely no regrets.”
Jurgen Klopp tried to sign him for Liverpool too. Before signing Andy Robertson in 2017, Jurgen Klopp showed a strong interest in Ben. However, Chilwell sign as Leicester City extension.
Chilwell is confident that Leicester City would do well against Liverpool when they meet in a few days.
