David Alaba would be a perfect short-term option for Liverpool’s defence.
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is not expected to come back before the end of this season and this has left Jurgen Klopp with fewer options in the backline.
Joel Matip is also injured and young guns Nat Philipps and Rhys Williams are filling the centre-back position temporarily.
Like many top European clubs, Liverpool has also been linked with Bayern Munich star David Alaba who has refused to a sign a new contract with the German champions.
And former Reds player Danny Murphy believes that signing the Austrian defender would a perfect option to fix Liverpool’s injury-hit defence.
‘In terms of his ability, he absolutely fits, he’s a super player’, Murphy told Stadium Astro.
‘I suppose what you’d have to be looking at from Klopp’s perspective is the balance of the squad moving forward when everyone is fit.
‘Or you just look short-term and get the best option in possible which would be him.
‘I would be wanting to do it personally. You can’t have enough good players, but I think there would be a lot of competition.
‘He would certainly add quality and strength in depth, but there will a lot of takers for Alaba.’
