Speaking about Nunez’s celebration, Jurgen Klopp said: “Darwin and Dom are not fit, that’s why they didn’t play, but in the celebrations they looked 100 per cent. So I will have to speak with the medical department about that.”
Match winner Van Dijk said: “All the young boys on the pitch, if you see the extra-time, it’s incredible. I’m so proud of the team.
“An intense game for both sides, they had chances, we had chances and [it’s] amazing. First trophy as the Liverpool captain – it’s all for the fans so let’s enjoy it.”
He continued: “You should always savour the good moments and this is definitely one of them. We will never take these things for granted, we are very, very blessed and you see today as well that it could have been the other way, we could have lost.”
Despite his absence from the pitch, Nunez’s passion for his team’s success was palpable, resonating with Liverpool fans and players alike.
The viral footage captured his raw emotion and unwavering support, showcasing the camaraderie within the Reds’ squad.
While Nunez’s injury may have temporarily sidelined him, his spirited celebration underscores his commitment to the club’s cause.
