Diogo Jota is in the form of his life and feeling confident ahead of Real Madrid tie.
The Reds have been shaky this season with a string of injuries disrupting their flow throughout.
Real are in a stronger position, having not lost a single game out of their last 11. When asked if they can win this quarterfinal first-leg, Jota said, “It will take a lot – a lot of effort, mainly.
“We will probably need to run a lot, to fight a lot, because of the way they play. They are the team with the most titles in this competition, [so] they are used to the knockout stages and we are going to need to be at our best if we want to get a result tomorrow.
“We are in good momentum; we left for the international break with two wins and two clean sheets. Now we follow the same path with another good win and the performance was a lot better as well than in previous games. We want to build on that, [but] tomorrow is a big challenge for us and we need to be ready.”
Jota scored twice against Arsenal in the 3-0 win on Saturday night. He came off the bench like he has been in most games since his return from injury. Jamie Carragher believes his red hot form justifies a starting position against the Galacticos on Tuesday night.
“I think he starts midweek against Real Madrid,” Redknapp told Sky Sports during their coverage of Liverpool versus Arsenal last weekend.
“I think that’s the reason he went with Firmino [against Arsenal]. He [Firmino] didn’t play any football during this international break. I think Jota will play against Real Madrid, for sure.”
