Dirk Kuyt, the former Liverpool hero, has sparked speculation about a potential return to Anfield after revealing he’s been in talks with the club.
The Dutchman, who enjoyed a prolific spell at Feyenoord under current Liverpool boss Arne Slot, expressed openness to reuniting with his former club.
Kuyt, now managing Belgian side Beerschot, hinted at a possible comeback to Liverpool, where he remains deeply connected.
While speaking to Ladbrokes 1-2-Free, Kuyt said: “Arne Slot is a family man, but he’s also a guy who is so into football – he’s 24/7 football. If you watch his press conferences, you’ll see he speaks very well and clearly expresses himself.
“He can be funny sometimes, but he’s also very straightforward. He knows everything about football; not only Dutch football, but you could ask him anything about football and I think he could give you an answer. Premier League fans are going to like him.”
When asked if he would ever consider a return to Liverpool, he replied: “Of course, if I can help Liverpool in any way, then I will. I’ve always been in contact with people at the club.
“I did some work for the foundation of the club, and I’ve done some commercial work for them, too. I’ve always been close with them. On or off the pitch, I’ve always tried to help the club because when you sign for Liverpool, you become part of a family.”
Known for his memorable moments in Liverpool’s history, including decisive goals in key matches, Kuyt’s return would undoubtedly resonate with the Reds’ faithful.
His admiration for Arne Slot’s football philosophy and his deep-seated affection for Liverpool’s ethos make him a compelling candidate for a role under the Dutch manager.
As Liverpool navigate their ambitions under Slot, Kuyt’s potential involvement could add both experience and a strong bond with the club’s illustrious past, further enriching their storied legacy.
