Dominik Szoboszlai Praises Nyoni’s Performance vs Real Betis
Liverpool’s pre-season clash against Real Betis saw the Reds secure a 1-0 victory, but it was the performance of 17-year-old Trey Nyoni that truly stood out.
With many senior players still on holiday, Arne Slot fielded a youthful squad, giving fans a glimpse of the club’s promising future.
Dominik Szoboszlai, who played a more advanced role alongside Harvey Elliott, shared his admiration for the young midfielder’s performance. Speaking to LFCTV, Szoboszlai couldn’t hide his excitement about Nyoni’s potential.
“I like him a lot,” Szoboszlai said, highlighting Nyoni’s offensive capabilities and impressive movement.
“He is a really offensive player. I just told Quansah on the bench that you can’t even foul him because of his movement.”
Nyoni, who made his senior debut for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup against Southampton last season, showcased his maturity and skill during the match against Betis. Despite his age, the former Leicester City prospect controlled the game with his calm demeanor and sharp vision.

Szoboszlai wasn’t the only one to notice Nyoni’s talent. Liverpool fans were equally thrilled, praising his composure and creativity on social media. The youngster’s ability to stay one step ahead of his opponents and deliver precise passes demonstrated why Liverpool signed him at just 16.
Curtis Jones also sees a bright future for Nyoni, emphasizing the crucial role central midfielders will play in Slot’s system.
If Nyoni continues to perform at this level, it won’t be long before he becomes a regular feature in Liverpool’s first team. The future certainly looks bright for Trey Nyoni and Liverpool.
