Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has expressed concerns over Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield, suggesting that the Egyptian forward is more likely to depart than remain with the club.
Dejan Lovren Hints at Salah’s Exit: “He Deserves More Respect”

Lovren, who shares a close friendship with Salah from their time together at Liverpool, believes the club is not providing the respect and recognition that Salah deserves.
In a recent interview, Lovren emphasized Salah’s exceptional contributions to Liverpool, stating,
“Whatever he’s asking for, he deserves it. He’s doing his job on the pitch.
Look at Ronaldo—he’s 40 and still playing. Salah is in great shape, still scoring goals. So what’s the problem?”
He further suggested that Salah feels undervalued in the ongoing contract negotiations, leading to uncertainty about his future with the club.
Salah’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and despite his expressed desire to stay, negotiations have stalled.
Lovren revealed, “He is closer to leaving than staying. I personally want him to stay.
I told him, ‘Mo, you have to think about yourself. Look at everything you’ve given this club.’ But I don’t think he gets the respect he deserves.”
Highlighting Salah’s consistent performance, Lovren noted that if it were players like Messi or Ronaldo in a similar situation, the media would be abuzz with daily updates about their contract status.
He lamented that Salah does not receive the same level of attention or respect, despite his significant contributions to Liverpool’s success.
The possibility of Salah moving to the Saudi Pro League has also been a topic of discussion.
Lovren acknowledged this potential move, stating, “He loves Liverpool a lot and wants to stay. But if he leaves, why not? The Saudi league is becoming more competitive.
If Mo goes there, he will be a huge star and bring fans with him.”
As the season progresses, Liverpool fans are left anxious about Salah’s future. His departure would mark the end of an era, given his pivotal role in the team’s achievements.
The club’s next steps in addressing this situation will be crucial in determining whether Salah remains a Red or seeks new challenges elsewhere.
