Former Liverpool star hails Firmino

Former Liverpool star Adam Bogdan has revealed things from his Liverpool days.

“I’m in love with the game of Firmino. He’s such a key player for Liverpool ,” said Bogdan. “You could tell (he was special).

“He got injured when I made my debut with his back so it took him a few weeks to come back.

“For him, Jurgen Klopp came in and knew him from Germany and that was a really key factor. He was aware of his abilities, what he could get out of him and it fitted perfectly with the system that Klopp wanted to play.

“You can see it in training. The touch, the passes, the turns, you can’t take the ball away from him, the attitude – everything.

“It takes a bit of time for the games to adjust to the system the manager wants you to play but in training, yeah, you could see it.”

“I think of it as mixed. It wasn’t a success story because if it was I’d still be playing and get a new contract,” he added about his Liverpool career. “That would have been a success, but in terms of going there and learning a lot and about myself too.

“How to deal with situations when you’re under pressure, you’re down or not right and when you have to be patient with yourself or the surroundings. I’m very, very glad that I did that.

“It was an amazing learning curve. I learned so much from other players and staff members, and about myself as well.

“If I take everything into account, it was a really good four years. If I only see the football side, of course it wasn’t – there is no question about it. It was an amazing experience.”
