Liverpool spent a chunk of money during the summer transfer window to bring some quality players to their side. They spent more than £150 million pounds to bring in the likes of Naby Keita, Fabinho and Alisson.

However, former Liverpool star John Aldridge thinks that buying Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City for £13 million was Liverpool’s best business during the summer.

Shaqiri has made 9 appearances for Liverpool this season so far but has started in only 4 matches. However, he has done pretty well in the time he has been on the pitch. His performances in Liverpool’s last three matches has been pretty good. He assisted a goal each in against Huddersfield Town and Red Star Belgrade before scoring his first Liverpool goal against Cardiff City on Saturday.

Aldridge has praised Shaqiri’s performances for Liverpool. He said, “The Swiss winger has put himself in a really good position, when he’s played over the last few games he hasn’t dropped below an eight out of 10. He’s been absolutely excellent.

I think Shaqiri at £13million seems to be the best bit of summer transfer business Klopp has done. We all knew the ability he had, he wasn’t able to show it at Stoke but with Switzerland he did and now he’s showing it for Liverpool.

Jurgen seems to have found a role for him to link the midfield and the attack, it’s what Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was doing brilliantly before his injury.

Shaqiri could be a massive player for us this season and his quality is great to watch.”

Liverpool’s next match is against Arsenal on Saturday.
