Gini Wijnaldum gives an update on his future

Geroginio Wijnaldum could become a free agent in the summer.

The 30-year old midfielder has entered the final six months of his contract with the Reds and his situation with the Merseyside club still remains the same.

During the summer window, he was linked with a move to Camp Nou but the move failed to materialise for the midfielder.

He already made 26 appearances this season and has become an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side in the last four-and-a-half years.

‘There is no update yet,’ he told Sky Sports on Thursday.

‘I also think I am not the one who should give the update, the club should.

‘If there will be an update the club will give it.’

Wijnaldum believes the Reds are hunting for more silverware this season.

He said: “This has changed the situation because normally the hunted have been us but now we have to hunt the other teams that are above us.

“The way we want to play, the way we want to play against every team, that will not change. I think we are not really busy with trying to defend a title, we are more busy with winning games.

“To defend the title, you can’t look too far ahead. You have to look game by game instead of putting pressure on ourselves that we have to defend the championship.
