At 22, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott believes his career is approaching a crossroads—and he is prepared to make a tough decision if things don’t change.

Harvey Elliott delivers stark message to Arne Slot over his Liverpool future

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp delighted with Harvey Elliott's new contract

Despite being part of Liverpool’s Premier League squad this season, the young midfielder spent much of it on the fringes, prompting him to raise a red flag to manager Arne Slot.

Elliott made 28 appearances for the Reds in 2024‑25, but only six were starts—and just two in Premier League matches until the title was already secured.

That represents a marked drop from his involvement under Jürgen Klopp, when he featured in 53 games before Slot’s arrival.

He’s spoken openly about the impact of his limited game time. “I don’t really want to be wasting years of my career,” Elliott said, noting that the peak of a footballer’s career is short and fraught with uncertainties, including injuries.

The message is clear: if regular minutes don’t materialize, he’ll explore opportunities elsewhere.

Elliott’s frustration isn’t unfounded. A serious foot fracture in September sidelined him for over two months, and despite returning strongly—capping it off with a dramatic winner against PSG—Slot hasn’t consistently placed him in the starting XI.

Things could get even more crowded in midfield next season with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz reportedly close to joining, a move that would further squeeze Elliott’s chances.

Still, Elliott’s love for Liverpool runs deep. A boyhood fan and lifelong Red, he called the club “home” and insists it’s not a desire to leave—but a need to grow, play, and improve.

With England Under‑21 duty looming at the Euros, he’s made his position clear: Liverpool must decide if he’s part of their roadmap—or if he should seek his future elsewhere.
