Olympique Lyon striker, Maxwel Cornet is flattered to have been linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Talks of the 22-year-old leaving France is gaining traction amongst the media outlets, mostly based on his comments. Cornet could be one of the many to leave the Ligue 1 outfit this summer with Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas already stating that Nabil Fekir would be allowed to move on.

An agreement between the French outfit and Cornet broke down to extend his contract after which the Ivory Coast international said, “I did not say I wanted to leave. We met the president in January, and I said I wanted to extend [my contract], but talks were not successful.”

Cornet added, “Liverpool are a big club, any links are flattering. I’m under contract until 2021, but you never know in football so we’ll see.”

Klopp has been reportedly keeping track of a lot of attacking options for this upcoming transfer window. The Reds boss has already revealed that he will not be spending giant amounts on star athletes but is looking for backup options.

Roberto Firmino is the starting centre-forward for Liverpool but his understudy, Daniel Sturridge is set to depart after this season. Divock Origi has only one more season left in his contract which would prompt the Reds to cash in on him this summer instead of losing him for free in the next.
