Jack Butland Talks Begin Between Liverpool And Stoke City

Liverpool have opened talks with Stoke City over their goalkeeper, Jack Butland.

The Mirror understands that the Englishman is desperate to move out after losing his starting spot to Adam Davies last season.

He last featured in a 5-0 hammering against Leeds United in July and has been riding the bench ever since. With less than 12 months left on his contract, Butland is ready to move on for fresher opportunities elsewhere.

Jurgen Klopp is actively looking for reinforcements in goal. After another horror display from Adrian, Alisson’s backup, the Reds are ready to bring in a more capable head. Butland certainly ranks high on the shortlist based off of his experience in English football.

The 27-year-old has been capped 9 times for England and was regular during his Premier League days with Stoke. Plenty of clubs had expressed interest back then with Stoke demanding £30m for him. Now, Liverpool can sign him for less than a third of that sum.

The domestic transfer window is open until Friday before which Liverpool can conclude the deal. Another target linked to the club is Brentford’s David Raya. The Bees custodian could be a bit more expensive than Butland, given that he is younger, has a longer contract and their first choice.

  1. I think this would be a good signing for the reds and they should get it done and dusted asap as Adrian is shocking! We would be better off using a youth team goalkeeper!
