Liverpool vice-captain James Milner said that Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi called him a ‘donkey’ during the first leg semi-final leg between Liverpool and Barcelona. During the match, Milner made a challenge on Messi that saw the Argentine roll around like Neymar did against Serbia during the World Cup.

Milner revealed that at half-time, Messi confronted him and called him a donkey. The 32-year old said, “He was giving me plenty in Spanish going down the tunnel at half-time as well. He was calling me ‘burro’. It translates as donkey.”

Messi eventually scored two goals during the match as Bacelona won the first leg 3-0. However, Milner and Liverpool had the last laugh in the end as the reds thrashed Barcelona 4-0 in the second leg to win 4-3 on aggregate and qualify for the final where they will face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
