Liverpool are ready to offer Milner a new contract but with a pay cut.

The veteran midfielder is expected to leave Anfield this summer when his contract with the Reds expires.

His experience and leadership abilities are highly appreciated in the Liverpool dressing room.

Liverpool are looking to offer him a one-year extension deal but the 37-year-old must take a pay cut to sign the new deal.

Jurgen Klopp has urged the board to offer Milner a new contract as he believes the veteran midfielder has a lot to offer at the top level.

According to some sources, Milner saw his wages cut to £60,000-a-week in his last contract extension and could slash further if he signs a new deal.

Klopp said back in January: “We have different plans for Milly but Milly wants to keep playing, and when you see him play the other night [against Wolves] I think everyone understands that.

“You can’t judge him normal for his age. He is 37, but he doesn’t look a day like this when he is in training. He is an incredibly important player and in this game (Wolves) you saw on the pitch as well.
