Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has labelled tomorrow’s clash against Manchester United as ‘THE Game’. Tomorrow’s match is a very important game for Liverpool as a win will put them three points ahead of Manchester City.
It’s been nearly five years since Liverpool last defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Liverpool won the previous encounter between both teams 3-1 at Anfield a couple of months back. However, that match turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Manchester United as Jose Mourinho received the sack shortly after and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became interim manager.
United have done very well under Solskjaer so far. They have reached the top four of the Premier League and are yet to lose a league game.
However, Jurgen Klopp believes that his team has a good chance in THE Game tomorrow. Klopp said, If we would see it like a lot of people see it, that it is THE game, that is too much pressure on everybody. You cannot do it like that… If we lose the game – and I don’t think about losing the game – then we are still level on points with Manchester City.
That is the worst thing that can happen. The only thing people can make of it is that we are not in a very good moment and other teams are in a good moment. You always have to strike back from different things in a season, from a draw, from a win that we were not convincing.
We have a chance to play an outstanding last period of the season, with one of the most difficult games as the start. You play away at Manchester United and even if we are 20 points ahead of them, there is no guarantee we will win it because it’s Manchester United. That’s the massive thing. Everybody knows in football that Manchester United against Liverpool is one of the biggest games in world football. We have to prepare for that and still play a game. There is always a reason why they especially want to beat us.
Now it is a really big one. I know that, I respect that. You think it is only a big game for Manchester United? If you go in our dressing room they are all long enough here and if you are not long enough here the other guys will tell you.”
