Jurgen Klopp claims Darwin Nunez deserved a red card

Darwin Nunez got sent off on his second appearance for Liverpool.

Liverpool’s £85million signing was sent off on his home debut against Crystal Palace.

The Uruguayan headbutted Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen and will be banned for the next three Premier League games.

Manager Jurgen Klopp admits the 23-year-old deserved a red card for his actions.

‘Of course, it is a red card. He (Nunez) is provoked all the time but that is not how you should behave,’ said Klopp.

‘Darwin knows himself it is not the reaction you want to see. Centre-halves will do that to him but that is not the reaction.

‘It is not cool for us in that situation. He will learn from it. I will speak to him.’

Even club captain James Milner claims it was a disaster for the highly-rated forward.

James Milner added: ‘He will be disappointed and it is down to us to get around him and rally.’
