Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the Merseyside club won’t be moving for Sporting skipper Bruno Fernandes this summer.

The 24-year-old was a standout performer for his club, as Sporting held Liverpool in a 2-2 stalemate. Fernandes scored the first goal and assisted the second, while Divock Origi and Giorgio Wijnaldum were on the scoresheet for the Reds.

Liverpool fans were instantly impressed by the playmaker’s performance and called for their manager to sign him. However, with Manchester United also linked heavily with a move for the midfielder, Klopp admitted that they will more likely face him than sign him.

“If he will do that then we will face him.

“He’s obviously a really good player. They have already a few really good players, so that will probably make them stronger.”

“It’s not nice, but it is not our cup of tea, to be honest.”

Liverpool are set to take on Napoli in a club-friendly. Meanwhile, Fernandes is pondering over a move to the Premier League, with Man United and Tottenham touted to be his likely destinations.
