Darwin Nunez was seen pulled away by manager Jurgen Klopp.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late equaliser earned the Reds a 1-1 draw against league leaders Manchester City.
Shortly after the final whistle, Darwin Nunez was seen involved in a heated conversation with Man City boss Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola was not happy after watching Erling Haaland’s 50th Premier League goal get cancelled out by Alexander-Arnold in the final minutes of the game.
Nunez and Guardiola animatedly exchanged words and Klopp was compelled to step in and drag the Uruguayan striker away before the situation escalated.
But the German coach believes the reaction was just emotions running high and insists he was the wrong person to ask about the exchange.
“It has nothing to do with the fierce rivalry,” said Klopp. “I don’t know what you are trying to make of that. It’s not a fierce rivalry, we are just rivals. What is a fierce rival? Where do you see that, on the pitch in challenges?
“I really think it’s nothing that isn’t already sorted. It’s emotions. Pep wants to win and we want to win. Both didn’t win, so obviously nobody is really happy and on the day these things can happen.”
