Jurgen Klopp Has Asked Liverpool Star To Remain Patient After Injury

Jurgen Klopp has asked Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to remain patient as he looks to find his way back to top form after a serious injury.

The 32-cap England international missed almost the entire 2018/19 season after rupturing a knee ligament in a Champions League quarter-final game against Manchester City.

He did get to start in the Reds’ past two games but the 26-year-old looks far from his best self. It is understandable a player needs an extended period of time to get back in top shape after undergoing such a serious injury.

Oxlade-Chamberlain started against Chelsea on the left and was taken off later but he got to start in his preferred midfield position at Saint Mary’s last weekend.

“He needs to be patient in the right way, and also everything will be fine 100 per cent,” Klopp said, via the Liverpool Echo. “We only talk about Ox because everybody knows how good he is, but we need to make sure that he can show that on the pitch as well. That is my decision, and when I make the decision that he is now ready then it is my responsibility of course as well and the boy only has to try to do his best.”
