Jurgen Klopp has identified Virgil van Dijk replacement available for £27.5m.
Liverpool’s title-defence quest was staggered last weekend when their best defender Virgil van Dijk suffered a ligament injury after a shocking challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The 29-year old has to undergo knee surgery and will most likely miss the rest of the Premier League season.
There are reports that the ACL injury could extend beyond that with the prospect of him returning to action at the start of next season.
This would be real trouble for the Reds and Liverpool are ready to buy a replacement for Van Dijk in the January transfer window.
Klopp has identified Ozan Kabak of Schalke as their top target but no formal bid has been made yet.

The Reds were previously interested in Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion but his price £50m price tag has narrowed down the chances of him coming to Anfield.
Ozan Kabak is available for just £27.5m, a cheaper option than Ben White.
The Reds currently have just two senior options at centre-back in the form of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip with Fabinho sometimes filling in the cenre-back position.
